12th Annual Senior Expo

THE 12TH ANNUAL CALVERT & METZLER MEMORIAL HOME McLEAN COUNTY SENIOR EXPO RETURNS TO BLOOMINGTON’S INTERSTATE CENTER AT 1106 INTERSTATE DRIVE ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4TH, 2019
The theme is Home – Health – Hobby and the goal is to feed Bloomington-Normal and surrounding communities while educating and entertaining McLean County senior adults and their families

“Calvert cares about your family and Calvert cares about our community” is more than just a slogan, it is an ongoing commitment to the families and individuals that Calvert Funeral Homes serve. For the past eleven years, the McLean County Senior Expo has educated, entertained, and offered central Illinois senior adults a day of enjoyment that they truly deserve. This invitation is extended once again to those aforementioned entities when the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home McLean County Senior Expo opens its doors at 9:00 am at the Interstate Center at 1106 Interstate Dr. in Bloomington. As part of Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home’s ongoing “care for communities”, Expo attendees will once again have the opportunity to bring non-perishable food item(s) to the McLean County Senior Expo as part of the Calvert Cares Community Food Drive, which is being sponsored by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home and Denny’s Doughnuts and Bakery. Vendors and visitors who donate to the food drive will receive a Denny’s Doughnuts and Bakery gift and an entry into a $100 cash giveaway. Donations will once again benefit Midwest Food Bank and McLean County food pantries. The McLean County Senior Expo continues to be a free community event, featuring free parking and shuttle service to the Expo entrance, as well as free admission for all individuals who attend. Heartland Bank and Trust Company will once again sponsor hourly Expo Bingo and multiple Money Seat Seminar sessions with cash prizes. Expo guests will enjoy a wide array of activities, events, and free around-the-clock entertainment on the Expo stage, while Taste of the Expo free food samples will be offered from various retailers, grocers, and vendors throughout the venue. Local grocers, Green Top Grocery, Hy-Vee, and Jewel-Osco will compete in the first ever Chili Challenge Taste & Vote, which will allow visitors and vendors to vote for their favorite chili while being entered into an exciting drawing. Displays, demonstrations, health screenings, and giveaways will educate and excite all attendees while many of the area’s leading businesses and organizations will display their wares and answer questions pertaining to issues and interests of the McLean County senior adult population. A relaxing senior spa, hosted by Massage Envy Bloomington-Normal, will pamper attendees with refreshing chair massages. Vendors and visitors will not only have the opportunity to participate in the Money Bag Toss, Treasure Chest, Balls in the Bottle Counting Contest, and Silent Bingo, but they can also participate in the Renewable Dice Roll and Lucky Number, where prizes can be won multiple times per hour. Trivia Time, a cash prize trivia contest centered around the history of McLean County, promises to challenge vendors and visitors alike from the Expo Stage at 12:45 pm. With so much to do and too much to list, there is truly something for everyone at the 12th annual Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home McLean County Senior Expo, sponsored by Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Bloomington-Normal Audiology, Dermatology & Mohs Surgery Institute, Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Evergreen Senior Living, Health Alliance Medical Plans, Heartland Foot and Ankle Associates, Luther Oaks, OSF Healthcare St. Joseph Medical Center, Pontiac Granite Company Inc., The Vein Specialists, Welbrook at Bloomington, and Westminster Village.
