According to AAA, this year could have the third most Thanksgiving travelers in more than two decades.

The annual travel report from AAA predicts 55.4 MILLION people will travel for Thanksgiving this year. That’s the third highest total since the year 2000. It is also an increase of 2.3% over last year.

The report says the vast majority will be driving. More than 49 million are expected to fill the interstates, highways and roads. The airports will be filled by 4.7 million travelers. Other modes of transportation like buses and trains will be used by another 1.6 million people.

The Best time to leave will be four or five days early if you can. However, the worst travel days are expected to be Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving Day Thursday. The worst day to head home will be the Sunday after.

No Matter what day you travel, the best time to drive is before 10am of after 7pm. The absolute worst time to be on the road is the day before Thanksgiving between 2pm and 6pm.

You best bet if you are traveling is leave early, expect delays and remember you can stream B104 on your smart phone no matter where you are.
