Dolly revealed in an interview with People Magazine that a Broadway musical about her life is in the works. She is very involved with the development of the musical. Dolly is deeply involved with the casting of players for the show. In order to find people to play “little Dolly,” “early years Dolly,” and “an older Dolly” the real Dolly has suggested holding a “Finding Dolly” contest.

Dolly stated, “You never know where you’re going to find them. They may never have been on stage before, or maybe in some local theater somewhere, but we’re going to look for them, and that’s going to be part of the fun, I think.”
